Learning , learning, learning

Great news for me  , friend coming around tomorrow to help with , cut and paste lol , resizing jpeg files , so I can get 5 strips onto one page with title, name and contact details on every page, still need to finish Character sheet also double up on cartoon strips, changing one of each back to black and white for the postal applications , so 28 colour and 28 b/w .
Still need to draw a Sunday Cartoon or two, no specific description for these , just more boxes ,  I draw with 3 , Sunday's go up to 6 to 9 boxes , should be fun/challenge/I have no idea !
The day I send off the syndication applications I shall introduce the characters here, hopefully soon am trying for Wednesday.

Thursday, 17 May 2012

up to 21 strips now , hoping to send applications off on Wednesday 28 strips black and white, 4 per
a4 paper etc, etc, each request from syndications is different but specific.
Printed my second one out today and title not clear enough so need togo back and change all, be carfull here to check your  cartoons to see if everything , especially text ,is readable when minimised to newspaper size,  just made mine comic san ms , bold @ 50 , should do the job, looks massive when your drawing though..
Apparently the web site has been accepted! by search engines but takes up to 7 more weeks to get indexed, just as well because it looks very templated, loads to learn there.
So I will start a Facebook after sending applications off and reveal characters here simultaneously, I hope.
got to go its pizza night !!!!!!

This is where it all happens, far from drawing studios of old, not a piece of paper in sight, crazy. I use a wacom utuos 3 ( I think ) drawing tablet with A4 drawing size area, present from my wife about 5 years ago, second hand ones go for about 200 now, perfect for my needs and more probably,  takes some getting us to. I have an A4 drawing pad, for doodling rough sketches out on and try to carry a small note book to jot down any ideas that I have.

The key to success is a well organised plan, or not .

Deep in the world of not getting my web page published , lol, getting closer though , very helpful people and all tutorials there, once you've found them , will attack on Wednesday
Book arrived "The Illustrators guide to Law and Business Practice by Simon Stern" full of terms Idont know , so I'll keep it handy as a reference book , should get around to reading though incase.
Have changed the name of Strip Cartoon , already, so need to copyright that, just a tweak was neccessary .
Syndication applications about 10 days off finishing, I was wrong about King Features they have a very successful " digital arm" , no comment , cant resist , think I'll apply and go out on a limb !
Think I may get Facebook page together to reveal characters , put all friends out of their misery, am going as fast as I can , gets in the way working for a living.

Website !!!

Well now, have just registered domain name through www.ipost.com had to pay upfront for 2 years + few extra's, all in it breaksdown to less than £6.50 per month , now I'm off to test their tutorials and helpline lol.
Plan is , to set this up along with Facebook page and then launch Characters also sending them off to Syndications for consideration , deadline is 24th May, thats one month since I started this crazy plan.

Tuesday, 8 May 2012

Just finished another strip, 15 now, Was checking out Cartoon Syndications today, seems there's 3 main one's in this World, odds of getting accpepted by one of them to even try and sell my Cartoon for me are a whopping 1600 to 1 , seems I'll be making a plan B and C and D lol. Most Syndicatons want between 4 to 6 weeks of strips, now is that a 5 day week or 7, figure I'll send about 25 , Universal Uclick seem to be the most upto date, doing a lot of digital sales, although I always wanted to apply to Kings Features Syndication so I will, still about 2 weeks away , patience, patience, patience, it's still fun either way.

Well now Blogger on my phone, tech these days is excellent

It started on the 24th April 2012, at home with the family on holiday, raining outside I decided to get off my lazy a**e and see what I can do with a Cartoon Strip idea I've had for sometime...I thought I'd surf about looking for some cartoon software , lucky enough to have a gaphics tablet my wife bought me for this 5 years ago !
Photoshop very nice but expensive, Corel art , also very nice but expensive, finally I came across a company based in Canada called ToonBoom , great name, I bought Garfields Comic Book what a great fun program to use , aimed at 10 to 12 year olds , excellent for me then, it only cost U$30.00 and has given me the leapfrog jump I needed, this is just a hobby so can't afford to put much into this.
Trying to decide what to do next , this is a diary of my success or downfall, either way I'm gonna keep drawing and hopefully make a few people laugh along the way
